Installation Options

Standard Installation

A standard asphalt driveway installation involves preparing the existing surface, installing a base layer, adding an asphalt binder, and finishing with a top layer.

Milling and Resurfacing

Milling and resurfacing is a pavement rehabilitation method where the top layer of the existing pavement is removed and replaced with new asphalt.

Overlays

  • Thin Overlays: A thin layer of asphalt is applied to the existing surface, providing a smooth and durable finish.
  • Thick Overlays: A thicker layer of asphalt is applied, increasing pavement strength and durability, typically used for higher traffic areas.

Chip Seals

Chip seals involve applying a layer of asphalt binder followed by spreading aggregate chips. This economical method seals the surface and extends its life.

Hot-Mix Asphalt

Hot-mix asphalt, composed of aggregate, asphalt binder, and filler, is heated and applied to the driveway. It offers superior durability and longevity.

Cold-Mix Asphalt

  • Cold-Mix Asphalt Base: A base layer of asphalt that is mixed with water and binder at lower temperatures, providing a cost-effective sub-base.
  • Cold-Mix Asphalt Surface: A top layer of asphalt applied directly to the base, often used in low-traffic areas.

Advantages of Asphalt Driveways

  • Durable and long-lasting
  • Low maintenance costs
  • Heat-resistant and UV-resistant
  • Weather-resistant and flexible
  • Economical compared to other materials
